Broome County is located in south central New York. It is the home to the city of Binghamton, which has a significant portion of the county's population. Broome County has a total area of approximately 715 square miles of which 99% is land and 1% water. As of the census of 2000, there were 200,536 people, 80,749 households, and 50,225 families residing in Broome County, New York. It is the fifteenth most populous county in New York state. The county lies right on the northern border of Pennsylvania.
