Broome County is located in south central New York. It is the home to the city of Binghamton, which has a significant portion of the county's population. Broome County has a total area of approximately 715 square miles of which 99% is land and 1% water. As of the census of 2000, there were 200,536 people, 80,749 households, and 50,225 families residing in Broome County, New York. It is the fifteenth most populous county in New York state.
